Saturday, May 4, 2013

(Site Last Updated: 9/16/2012)

The Washington State Middle School Math Olympiad is a state wide team based competition where each team competes against itself to gain as many points as possible.  Teams are recognized for having achieved at the levels superior, excellent, very good or good in each of six components: a long session problem, and five short session problems in the content areas Number Sense, Probability and Statistics, Measurement, Geometric Sense, and Algebraic Sense.   A record of each team’s achievement is recorded on a Math Olympiad Certificate.  Teams take home with them contest memorabilia, their team certificate, their work for later review, and results for the site where they competed.

*** The 2013 Contest Registration Now Open! Go To Coach's Area to Register.  ***

We had difficulties with on-line registration from Jan 6 -Jan 13.  If you registered in that time-period please re-register or please email me your registration information at matholympiad@wsmc.net.  In all cases, be sure to include your printed registration invoice with your payment.

T-Shirt Design Contest

Each year we hold a student based t-shirt design contest.  The winning design or designs make their appearance on the Math Olympiad t-shirt that many contestants, volunteers, and supporters wear long after the contest is over.  The winners also are recognized in Washington Mathematics, the WSMC journal.  Designs are submitted through a math team coach by March 15.  Get your designs in early!

2012 Winning Design:

Prior year t-shirt designs.

Parents: If your school has no math team consider volunteering to coach.  Talk to a teacher and come on board.
